Headteacher's Update

Friday 3rd July 2026

A huge well done to our Reception and Hatchlings Nursery children, who thoroughly enjoyed their Sports Days this week. It was fantastic to welcome so many families to cheer them on as they ran, balanced, jumped and worked together through a range of exciting activities. More importantly than the races themselves, it was wonderful to see the children encouraging one another, trying their very best and showing excellent sportsmanship throughout the morning. We were also delighted to celebrate our Reception Robins class, who earned their well-deserved ice cream treat for demonstrating consistently excellent behaviour and effort. The children have worked incredibly hard to earn this reward and were very proud to celebrate their achievement together.

In Year 3, children have been making excellent progress in their Moving Monsters Design and Technology project. It has been wonderful to see them designing, creating and refining their moving mechanisms, applying their creativity alongside developing technical skills. The resilience they have shown when adapting and improving their designs has been particularly impressive, and we look forward to seeing the finished products.

Our Year 5 and 6 Cross Country Club continues to be a fantastic success, with children showing real commitment by arriving before school to develop their fitness, stamina and determination. It is wonderful to see so many pupils choosing to challenge themselves and support one another before the school day has even begun. Lots of staff at CAW belong to Running Clubs of their own, so being able model and share this passion is really special.

Finally, I would like to celebrate one of our Year 1 children, who has been working alongside a visiting adult on a very special project exploring what Brighton means to him. It has been a fantastic opportunity for him to share his own experiences, ideas and creativity, and we are incredibly proud of the confidence and enthusiasm he has shown throughout the project.

In the upcoming weeks we have a number of events for families to attend next week. Please do keep up to date with the bulletin and emails/Arbor App messages.
