Headteacher's Update

Friday 3rd October 2025

We’ve had another great week full of exciting learning and fun experiences for the City Academy Whitehawk children, including some fantastic PE competitions. The Year Five and Six boys’ football team performed brilliantly against Coldean, and the Year Five and Six girls’ tag rugby festival was a huge success! Sport and exercise are hugely important to us as a school, and it’s wonderful to see the children enjoying them so much.

Reception Reading Meeting for families (Wed 8th October 9:05am)

As you know, reading is very special to City Academy Whitehawk, and developing a love of stories is one of the greatest privileges we have as a teaching team. We value our phonics and early reading provision so highly, and know that families supporting children with their sounds and reading makes such a difference. Miss Delaney, our Early Reading Leader, is looking forward to hosting a Reception Reading Meeting on Wednesday (8th October) at 9:05am...it will be lovely to see as many Reception family members there as can make it.

Junior Roedean Academy Year Five

Year Five are looking forward to the Junior Roedean Academy starting on Wednesday! CAW children will visit Roedean and engage with lessons supported by Roedean students. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn in a different environment and enjoy the amazing facilities at Roedean.

Have a great weekend, and I’ll see you on the gate on Monday morning,

Russell Wood
