  • Headteacher's Update

    Friday 7th November 2025

It’s been wonderful to be back after the half term break! I continue to be impressed by the hard work happening in all classes, and with children wearing the correct uniform and showing that they really feel part of City Academy Whitehawk.

    Family Engagement event feedback

A big thank you to everyone who attended the Maths Family Engagement events before half term: we had a record turnout, and it was lovely to welcome families into school. I’m grateful to everyone who completed the feedback forms: it was lovely to see that all of the feedback was positive and that 92% of families rated the events as being five out of five! I’ve included some of the quotes you left on the feedback form: they were lovely to read:

It was very inclusive with lots of different activities. Fun for parents and kids!

Seeing the learning and activities the class get involved in was great to watch and to know what they have been learning this term. We also really valued having opportunities to speak with and see our children engage with the teachers and TAs.

It’s lovely to see the children in a context with their whole class working and playing together.

I loved participating in the activities that were displayed on the tables with my son, it was very productive, cool and fun. It brings us closer together during busy days, my son loved that I went to school and did things with him. I loved it too!

As always, I’m keen to hear your feedback, so please do share any ideas for future events with me.

    Numbots!

We’re very excited to be launching Numbots for Year 2 and Year 3! This is a wonderful interactive maths website that children can have fun on, earn rewards and practise important maths skills. Year 2 and Year 3 children will be bringing logins home and having a special launch assembly. Keep an eye on Arbor for a letter from Miss Cairns with further details.

    New Reception Family Events

We’ve loved welcoming families to all of the events we are running for children starting in Reception next year, including muddy fun at yesterday's Outdoor Explorers event:

Check out the flyer below with dates and times of more fun activities, and please do share them with anyone who would like to join us.

    Have a great weekend,
