As we head into the final few days of the school year, there is a real sense of celebration around City Academy Whitehawk. This week has been packed full of opportunities for children to make lasting memories with their friends and teachers, whilst continuing to demonstrate our CAW Qualities of Collaboration, Aspiration, Excellence, Resilience, Respect and Effort.

Our week began with a successful Transition Day, where children met their new teachers and spent time in their new classrooms ahead of September. It was lovely to see how confidently they embraced this important step. Throughout the week, children also enjoyed our popular breakfast clubs, including fitness, athletics and yoga, alongside our Year 3–6 Cross Country Club. We celebrated our latest Times Tables Rock Stars winners, WASP put on two fantastic Minecraft sessions and surprised pupils with a talent show and a preview of the Y6 Leavers Show.  We also enjoyed our Year 6 BBQ as the children continue to celebrate the final weeks of their primary school journey. The celebrations continued on Friday with our Year 6 Careers Fair before the whole school enjoyed our Summer Disco Day, with children dressed in their party clothes and dancing the afternoon away with friends. 

There is still so much to look forward to next week, including our final Reading Raffle, Aspiration Awards, Year 6 Leavers' Assembly, class parties, bouncy castle day and, of course, the opportunity for children to soak the Senior Leadership Team! We are looking forward to making every remaining moment count before wishing everyone a well-earned summer break.

A huge thank you to all of the families who joined us this week for our Music Instrument Learners' Concert and choir performances. It was wonderful to see so many parents and carers celebrating the children's achievements as they confidently performed on the piano, keyboard, guitar, clarinet and several other instruments. Learning a musical instrument requires dedication, resilience and regular practice, and the children should be incredibly proud of how far they have come. It was a fantastic morning and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the breadth of talent across our school.

I would also like to thank the many families who attended our Family Consultation Evenings this week. It has been a pleasure sharing your children's end-of-year reports with you and celebrating the fantastic progress they have made over the course of the year. Our reports not only recognise the many achievements children have accomplished but also identify the next steps in their learning as they move into their new year group. These conversations are such an important part of our partnership with families, and we greatly appreciate your continued support. A reminder to our Year 6 families that reports and consultation appointments will take place on Monday and Tuesday next week, following the later completion of statutory assessment marking.

As we approach the end of term, I would also like to remind families that attendance during these final few days remains incredibly important. Whilst much of the formal curriculum has been completed, these last days are full of valuable opportunities for children to maintain their routines, time with friends they may not see over the summer holidays, enjoy the many celebrations and treats planned across the school, and begin building relationships with the teachers who will be welcoming them in September. There is still so much to look forward to, and we want every child to be part of these special moments.
