  • Headteacher's Update

    Friday 12th September 2025

It’s been wonderful to welcome everyone back to school! Thank you to the staff team who worked so hard to get everything set up for the new year. Seeing the children back and enjoying the fantastic learning in their classrooms has been amazing. Please do keep checking our Facebook page (linked at the top of this website) for regular updates on the great things happening at school.

You may have heard that our school has been nominated in the ‘Community Hero’ category of the Brighton and Hove Business Awards. We’re so proud of this! The staff team here at City Academy Whitehawk care deeply about the children we are privileged to teach, and the community we are so proud to serve. Find out more at the awards website: https://www.platinummediagroup.co.uk/events/brighton-and-hove-business-awards/

A big thank you to all CAW families for supporting us in our high expectations for smart uniforms for the children. This really helps to build a shared experience and sense of belonging, and the children have looked really smart. It’s been a brilliant start to the year!

Your responses to our family surveys showed you want us to improve the ways we communicate with you. It’s really helpful to know this and I’m going to make sure that all our families are up to date with all that’s going on in school at all times. I will be posting these Headteacher Updates each week, and will be sharing more information on how we will keep you up to date with you very soon. We know that everyone in our school community wants the very best for the children of Whitehawk. Improving the ways we keep you up to date will help us all keep CAW being the fantastic school it is.

Finally, I’d like to celebrate a really special member of the City Academy Whitehawk community. Over the summer, Imogen competed at the British Transplant Games again, and was rewarded with an incredible number of medals. As Imogen said, “I won these medals by putting in loads of effort!” It’s inspirational to see someone who really lives our CAW Qualities of Collaboration, Aspiration, Resilience, Effort, Excellence and Respect. Great job Imogen!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to seeing you on the gate on Monday morning.
