    Friday 10th October 2025

Congratulations to our Year Six Girls' Football Team for a brilliant performance to finish second in the Zonal Football tournament this week. They are wearing kits they designed themselves, with their very own motto: 'Respect All, Fear None!'

Hello Yellow Mental Health Awareness Day

It was wonderful to see the children wearing yellow to school today to raise awareness for mental health! It’s fantastic to raise the profile of the importance of talking to each other about our worries. Please click this link if you’d like make a voluntary donation to such a great cause.

    Family Consultations next week

We’re looking forward to welcoming families to CAW after school on Tuesday (14th) and Wednesday (15th) for the Autumn Family Consultations. These are really important for staying in touch to hear how your child is getting on at school with their learning and beyond. I’ve got some slots for meetings too, as do Mr. Kelsey (Behaviour) and Ms. Gosztonyi (Inclusion), so please do sign up if there’s anything you’d like to discuss.

    Learning Ticket Rewards

Our CAW Qualities of Collaboration, Aspiration, Resilience, Effort, Excellence and Respect were chosen for how they encourage children to develop their Growth Mindset characteristics. We reward children for demonstrating these qualities with our famous Learning Tickets! Learning Tickets are counted each week, and the Key Stage One and Key Stage Two class who have earend the most that week are rewarded with a special Class Celebration activity. We also run a House System here: Air, Earth, Fire and Water. At the end of each half term, the House with the most Learning Tickets earns an extra special seasonal House Celebration (such as pumpkin bowling or Valentine’s Day baking!). Rewarding hard work and good behaviour is a key part of our offer at City Academy Whitehawk.

Have a great weekend, and I’ll see you on the gate on Monday morning,

    Russell Wood
