Teaching and Learning
It's been a fabulous week for teaching and learning with a real spotlight on the foundation curriculum. Reception have been showing off incredible writing and knowledge about Ramadan and sharing this with visitors. Year 1 have embarked on some great geography skills through interactive stations which also supported the development of fine motor skills and letter formation. Year 2 had their learning come to life by visiting the SeaLife centre as part of their animal science topic. Year 3 have been finessing their culinary skills in DT sandwich making and geographical research and project skills. Year 4 have been using non-fiction texts and maps to enhance their knowledge of the Anglo-Saxon invasion of Britain and tracking which religion dominated. Year 5 have been plotting trade routes used to export resources and goods from the Amazon rainforest and Year 6 have been planning, completing and writing up physics investigations into parachute formation.
Whilst Reading, Writing and Maths take up our core lessons in the morning, we give our afternoon lessons equal importance and ensure that children are taking part in engaging, meaningful and well-sequenced learning.

Hot Off The Press
Lei, Year 5, has become a huge Sophie Anderson fan after being introduced to her book, The Girl Who Speaks Bear in the autumn term. Since then, she's gone on to read all her books and even dress up as The House With Chicken Legs for World Book Day. Sophie has been so impressed by Lei and her family that she sent Lei an advanced copy of her new book The House With Chicken Legs Runs Away. You may remember that Lei has published her own book recently, and that Year 5 had a video call with Sophie Anderson earlier in the year where Lei shared her writing ambitions with Sophie.

TTRS Competition Year 3-6
Next week we have a TTRS (Times Table Rockstar) competition against the other schools in our trust. This will run from Monday - Friday next week. The school with the most points collected in this time will be the winner! Children will spend some time on TTRS at school, but please do encourage children to do this at home too as this will really boost our points! We can’t do it without you!

I hope you enjoy a restful weekend and are ready for a brilliant last week of Spring 2!
