Welcome
Headteacher's Welcome
Thank you on behalf of all of us here at City Academy Whitehawk for visiting our website. It is our hope that visiting this website will provide you with all of the information you are looking for about our amazing school but if you have any unanswered questions please don't hesitate to get in touch.
I was delighted to join the school as Deputy Headteacher in 2022, and to then become Headteacher in 2025. Serving the Whitehawk community means everything to me, and I take this honour very seriously. Working with the City Academy Whitehawk children, families and community is incredibly important to me and I know that working together will allow us to provide the best possible outcomes for the children we are privileged to welcome to our school.
We are very proud of our school and everything we do is captured in the phrase:
'Highest Expectations for All'.
We believe passionately in the potential for every child in our school to be supported, nurtured and challenged in order to allow each child to flourish into being the very best that they can be. We strive to provide an outstanding education to ensure that every child develops the self-belief and the skills that they need to have a successful and fulfilling life. To achieve this, we have the highest expectations for our staff, our parents/carers, our community and of course our children themselves.
We challenge ourselves to provide the best possible education and to really be a school that ‘goes the extra mile’ for our children and community. We are committed to ensuring that our children feel safe, understand what it means and why it is important to be healthy and know how to achieve this. We believe that central to achieving their very best, children need to be confident and highly skilled in the core subjects of reading, writing and maths.
As a proud member of the Aurora Academies Trust, we value greatly the distinct features of our school. We are a school that places great value on sport, exercise and physical activity. We hold the top award of School Games Mark – Gold, and this is due to the strong culture of Physical Education we have at our school and the commitment of our staff. At City Academy Whitehawk, every child can expect access to two hours high quality PE lessons each week, numerous clubs and many sporting opportunities.
We proudly deliver a broad, rigorous and ambitious curriculum which develops children’s curiosity and understanding of a full range of different topics in a highly creative and thought-provoking manner. We believe that for children to thrive in the world around them, they need to have self-confidence and belief in their own knowledge and skills.
At City Academy Whitehawk, we adopt and embody our six core qualities that all of our school community need to develop and demonstrate. We call these our ‘CAW Qualities’ and they are:
Our door is always open and we welcome visitors and prospective parents/carers to look around the school at anytime. Please contact the school office on 01273 681377 to arrange a visit.
I look forward to speaking to you personally,
