Improvements to our school site!

We are delighted to share several improvements that have taken place around school during the half term break and over recent weeks.

Our ground floor corridor now has brand new carpeting, helping to create a fresh and welcoming environment for our children and visitors. New playground fencing has also been installed, including the development of our new Year 1 and Year 2 Puffin Playground. We have already received some fantastic feedback from families about this improved outdoor space and supporting hometimes. We are thrilled that children are enjoying the new area so much and are looking forward to developing it over time.

In addition, sensory "Snugs" have now been installed in Years 3, 4 and 5, giving children calm and supportive spaces to help with regulation and wellbeing. Finally, every newly fitted window across the academy has now been equipped with new blinds in our signature school blue, further enhancing our learning environments.

We really enjoy working on projects like these to bring the best possible learning space to our children and we hope they'd enjoyed them too!

Reception Open Evening Success

Thank you to everyone who attended our Reception Open Evening this week. It was wonderful to welcome so many prospective families into our academy.

The evening showcased so much of what makes our school special, including performances of our school song, the famous Colgate advert, our school video, the beautifully presented Early Years environment, Aspens food tasters, our welcoming library and a fantastic display of children's artwork.

We received overwhelming feedback about the warm, positive feel of the academy and the pride shown by our staff and pupils. We are very much looking forward to welcoming our new Reception children and families in September 2027. Please keep an eye out for our admissions poster highlighting further opportunities to visit and learn more about our wonderful school.

Aspiration Awards Celebration

This afternoon we will be holding a special Aspiration Awards assembly to celebrate pupils who consistently demonstrate our values through exemplary behaviour and excellent attendance. We cannot wait to recognise the children who have achieved Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates. We look forward to sharing more information and celebrating their achievements with families next week.

Breakfast Club Special Week

Join us next week for some extra special breakfast club sessions and before school mini clubs!

Reception and Nursery Families Coffee Morning

A reminder that our Reception and Nursery Families Coffee Morning will take place on Monday 9th November from 8:45am until 9:30am at City Academy Whitehawk. Families will be able to enjoy a cuppa and biscuits, meet other parents and carers, ask questions and chat with members of staff. The school nurse will also be present to offer guidance and support. The Year 1 coffee morning earlier this term was extremely well attended, and families told us they found it both helpful and informative. We are hoping for another fantastic turnout and would encourage all Nursery and Reception families to come along.
