  • Headteacher’s Update

    Friday 24th October 2025

As we reach the end of the Autumn 1 half term, it’s wonderful to see children so proud of the outcomes from their learning. I’ve had a steady stream of students coming to show me their work this week, and it’s been a real pleasure to see everything they have created.

    Family Engagement events

We had an incredible turn out for the maths-flavoured Family Engagement events this week! Thank you for coming into school to be part of your child’s learning. Please do take a moment to let me know what you enjoyed, and any ideas you have to make these events even better in the future. The QR code below will take you straight to the feedback form, and I really value your responses.

    Autumn 1 Newsletter

The first of our new half termly Newsletters is now online: click here to read all about our priorities as a school, our responses to the Summer Family Survey, and details about our Family Communication guide. Children will also be bringing home a printed copy of this today to share with you.

    Forum about Whitehawk funding

I was delighted to attend the forum Chris Ward MP ran at the Crew Club last week to discuss the £20m funding that the government are investing in Whitehawk. This is an incredible opportunity for the community, and we are excited to find ways to work with so many of the brilliant local organisations that love the Whitehawk community so much. If you have any ideas about funding bids, linked to the school or the community as a whole, I’d love to have a conversation with you around them.

Department for Education filmed at CAW!

This week we hosted a film crew from the Department of Education. They have heard all about the great work we are doing to increase children’s attendance at City Academy Whitehawk, and they interviewed families and staff so that they can share our successes with schools across the country. We’re really proud of this: we know that children being in school will improve their academic outcomes and increase their sense of belonging at City Academy Whitehawk.

Have a wonderful half term break, and I'll see you all on the gate on Monday 3rd November,
