  • Headteacher's Update

    Friday 27th March 2026

We've had a very musical end of term!

On Friday last week, Year 6 did us extremely proud on Friday night when they performed their dance on stage at The Brighton Dome as part of the Let's Dance festival. They have been working on their routine to Wake Up by Hilary Duff during the spring term. On Friday, they had a dress rehearsal and well-earned pizza before hitting the stage in front of hundreds of family, friends and general public in the evening. We're so proud of their resilience and creative spirit, and to Mrs Luna and Mr McAdam's choreography!

On Wednesday, Norman Cook (otherwise known as Fatboy Slim) came to give an assembly to Year 5 & 6 where they learnt more about his career, charity work and achievements. This was so special and created a lot of excitement. We're really grateful to Norman for giving up his time to do this. It's really important to us that children get to hear about different paths in life and how careers can adapt and change over time. We talked a lot about how much resilience and effort goes into meeting goals and how children can apply this to their own lives.

On Thursday, Taylor Swift Club brought the house down with their brilliant show. They performed 5 songs (The Fate Of Ophelia, Shake It Off, 22, I Knew You Were Trouble and Love Story) and also ran some interactive games and quizzes for the audience. Thank you to all staff and families who came along to support and all the hard work and effor the Swifties put into learning their lines, songs and actions!

Also this week, we welcomed families to our year group events, where families and children got up to a whole range of things. Year 5 were busy showing off their knowledge of the Mayan zodiac system and sculpting skills and Reception put on a brilliant live phonics lesson for families to see what our early reading lessons are like. We really enjoy hosting families so they can get a feel for what learning is happening in the class and get to spend time looking at children's amazing work in their books. Our next family event will be our amazing Arts Week Exhibition which will be at 3:20 on Thursday 21st May in our playgrounds/hall/Year 5/6 Classrooms. More information to follow next term!

We love to support and promote the creative arts as developing a love for this can be so supportive for mental wellbeing, improving fine motor skills, building resilience, growing attention and concentration and creating pieces that children are rightly proud about. Please do check out the creative arts page of the Spring Two newsletter!

It has been a real privilege to have worked even more closely with families this term in my Head Of School role and each and every child has achieved so much they should be proud of. I hope you head into the Easter break with lovely plans and plenty of reading (check out our Easter Reading Challenge in newsletter)!
