It has been another busy and productive week in school, with children across the year groups demonstrating our CAW Qualities of Aspiration, Excellence, Resilience, Respect and Effort in a wide range of learning experiences.

Year 4 have thoroughly enjoyed continuing their outdoor learning project in the school grounds, exploring different habitats and investigating the creatures and plants that live within them. This hands-on learning opportunity has encouraged the children to ask thoughtful questions, work collaboratively and show great respect for the natural environment around them. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and curiosity flourish as they apply their classroom learning in such a practical and engaging way.

Year 3 also had a fantastic opportunity to enrich their history learning with a visit to Preston Manor, where they stepped back in time to learn about life in the Victorian era. They practised brushing out the fireplace, carefully made beds, polished surfaces until they shone, and even learnt how to correctly set a dining table. It was a fantastic hands-on experience that brought history to life and helped the children understand what daily life was like during the Victorian era. The children represented the school brilliantly, showing excellent behaviour and a genuine eagerness to learn. Experiences such as these help to bring the curriculum to life, sparking curiosity and deepening understanding in memorable ways.
Alongside these exciting wider curriculum opportunities, we remain fully committed to ensuring every child is supported to achieve success in the key areas of their learning. Across the school, we are continually identifying where children may need additional support and taking proactive, positive steps to help close any gaps in learning. This is a key part of our drive for excellence and our belief that every child can achieve with the right encouragement, guidance and opportunities.
I am incredibly proud of the commitment shown by our staff team in supporting this work. A number of staff have volunteered to run additional after-school clubs, carefully targeted to support children in specific areas. These include a Year 4 Multiplication Check Club, a Year 2 Maths Club, Year 6 Maths Mentoring, and Year 1 Phonics Screening and Catch-Up Club. These sessions are designed to build confidence, strengthen key skills and provide children with the focused support they need to make excellent progress, whilst always being fun, engaging and filled with snacks! They are a wonderful example of the dedication our staff show in going above and beyond to help every child succeed.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. By working together and maintaining high expectations, we can ensure that all children are given the very best opportunity to thrive both academically and personally.
Have a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to seeing you all next week.
