Writing
Writing at CAW
To best meet the needs of children in Writing, we plan all units of writing with a view to developing transcriptional fluency and progressing to compositional fluency. Our Writing lessons are taught as a whole class with all learners being supported effectively, being challenged to apply the knowledge and skills they acquire through each unit of narrative, non-narrative and poetry teaching.
A range of stimulus (often including reading texts, history and geography topics) will ensure pupil engagement and support them in generalising their learning, applying newly acquired knowledge and skills and drawing from previous learning.
We have carefully constructed skills progressions that should be considered when planning, resourcing and assessing children’s writing.
