Week 3 - Monday - 20.04.20

Writing - 20.04.20

In Writing this half term, we will be learning a story about Australian animals. This week we are going to be learning a poem called ' Kangaroo, how do you do?'. We learn texts using 'story maps' where each picture corresponds to a word. Here's the poem:

Kangaroo how do you do?

Kangaroo, kangaroo, how do you do?  What are you hiding in front of you?

Kookaburra, kookaburra, sitting in the tree. I can hear you laughing loudly at me.

Wombat, wombat, big and round. Digging and digging in the rock, hard ground.

Platypus, platypus, swimming in the lake. Why do people think you are fake?

Koala, koala, climbing way up high. Come down here and stop being shy!

And here's the story map:

Maths - 20.04.20

In maths over the next 2 weeks, we will be learning about the numbers 50 to 100 and beyond. Remember that the first digit of a 2 digit number shows us how many 'tens' and the second digit shows us how many 'ones'. Have a look at the order of numbers up to 100!

Can you see the pattern that the numbers go in? Have a go writing the numbers from 50 to 100 in order. You could even challenge yourself to count in 2s, 5s or 10s!

Now have a go at these worksheets, can you fill in the missing numbers and how many tens and ones the numbers have?

In this worksheet, colour in the number that is one more in blue and the number that is one less in red.

Can you put these numbers in order from least to greatest? Remember to look at the tens and ones!

Reading - 20.04.20

This week's story is a book about an Australian animal called 'Diary of a Wombat'. Watch it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qMMhJ4iiu8.

Can you try a reading activity for the book?

Paragon - 20.04.20

In Paragon we are going to be learning all about a new continent and country called 'Australia'. Can you find where Australia is on google earth? It's very far away from where we live in the UK!

Have a go at colouring in Australia on a world map. Did you know Australia is a continent too with 14 countries. Find them all!

Science - 20.04.20

In Science, we will be learning all about the different seasons. We love this song from our Maths Meetings, can you sing it to your grown ups?

Listen to it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksGiLaIx39c.

Computing - 20.04.20

In Computing we are goign to be learning a new program called '2calculate'. I have sent it to all over your 2dos so click on the bell to find it. It looks like the button below!

Have an explore on 2calculate by clicking on sheet and then on the white square grid. Like in the picture above. You can fill the squares with numbers and even make equations. Try adding pictures to challenge yourself.
